New Data Protection Regulations
What does that mean?
All businesses are working and worrying about the new data protection regulations, called GDPR, which are coming into force on 25th May, 2018.
We're just a little bed and breakfast - but it applies to us too of course.
We've taken it seriously. I did a GDPR audit to record what information we held on people: guests, staff, or marketing communication recipients; how we held and used the information and what was needed to ensure compliance.
From that I've written a privacy statement which is available on the website. Dave is our IT expert so he's thought about that and Anna our web hoster and expert is busy doing what's right too.
I've made changes to some of our communications and tightened up on processes to make sure data that is no longer needed is destroyed.
But what does that really mean?
I believe it means that you and we as consumers have more rights and control over who holds our data and what they do with it and that has to be a good thing.
